‘GAPO, AGAPP FOUNDATION IN JOINT EFFORT TO PREPARE KIDS FOR SCHOOL

Presidential sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada and Olongapo City First Lady Anne Gordon spearheaded the launching of two (2) kindergarten classrooms in Barretto II Elementary School and New Kalalake Elem. School recently.

Abellada heads AGAPP (Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa) which aims to prepare children for school life and help them develop a positive attitude toward schooling.

“AGAPP Foundation designed a project that actively promotes the mobilization of the private sector resources and talents in support of DepEd’s existing programs such as the public Kindergarten Program and Every Child-A-Reader Program,” Education Secretary Armin Luistro said.

“On behalf of Mayor Gordon and the people of Olongapo, kami po ay nagpapapasalamat sa AGAPP Foundation sa pagpili nyo sa amin na maging recipient ng proyektong ito na nakikita ko talaga namang maganda at nakakatulong sa ating mga kabataan,” FL Anne Gordon said in her message during the launching of the project on September 14, 2011.

Education is one of the focus in Mayor James Gordon, Jr.’s HELPS Program to improve basic education.

“The Department of Education (DepEd) has committed to expand kindergarten /early childhood education through a partnership with AGAPP foundation called ‘Silid Pangarap’, “said Pinky Aquino-Abellada, AGAPP chairperson.
